You know, as much as this has turned into a food and family day, we need to remember what it's truly about. Giving thanks to God for all that He has given us and done for us. I know I'm a little late but this was something I was thinking about all of last month so I thought I'd share it with you before I did my December letter.
As you might have guessed from my last letter, times are rough. Smoothing out a bit but life isn't a bowl full of cherries, is it? lol! Well, amidst all of the chaos, as Thanksgiving approached, I began to think about it and was embaressed to realize that in my griping over difficulties, I wasn't thinking about how many many ways He has blessed me and my life. Just now I searched "thanks" in the Bible and do you know that giving of thanks, in one form or another, is talked about dozens and dozens of times? Including the two verses that we like to forget: "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:20 and "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jeuse concerning you." I Thessalonians 5:18 We don't want to give thanks when life isn't going well or when something happens that we don't like, but there it is in black and white! We're supposed to!
So this is just a little reminder to, in this season of thanksgiving and all year, give thanks to the One who has blessed us in so many ways that we couldn't name them all if we tried. Happy Thankgiving!!!!
With Prayers,
Sarah
